We can’t stand to see litter in our communities so we were so pleased to hear this brilliant idea from Prince Charles, who is hoping to introduce a national day of litter picking in the UK to combat the waste problem and protect our environments from pollution.

Speaking publicly at a meeting in London on tackling waste, the 70-year-old Prince was passionate about the idea of having a day where schools across the country take children litter picking for the day. The initiative would hopefully encourage children to take care of their environment and pick up their litter from a young age. This is similar to a scheme already run in Sweden which the idea is inspired by.

Known for his enthusiasm when it comes to environmental issues, his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry have shared their sweet childhood memories of litter picking with their father during the documentary to mark Prince Charles’ 70th birthday celebrations.

“He took us litter picking... Both of us thought, “This is perfectly normal, everyone must do it.” We’re there with our spikes stabbing the rubbish into black plastic bags,” said Prince William.
