While most of us would give our eye teeth to look as glamorous as Amanda Redman at 60, it wasn't an age she greeted with much ceremony. "I just had dinner with my husband and a friend," she told The Sun. "We were in Sri Lanka because I was working on Good Karma, and that suited me fine."

The actress, and Yours cover star, also said: "I remember realising when I was 31, 'Oh my God I'm not a girl any more'. And then it gets a thousand times worse."

She also worries that, above a certain age, the entertainment industry stops giving roles to women. But thankfully she's still on our screens in the wonderfully uplifting Good Karma Hospital

And as for the secret to her youthful looks? She told us: "For me it's not just about looking good, it's about staying fit and healthy. I exercise - a lot - even though I don't like it much. I do at least five hours a week but it takes up a lot of time and it's not always to shoe-horn in."

She also watches what she eats to retain her envy-inducing figure, claiming to be a 'bit of a pig' at heart!

Amanda has been married to mobile phone designer Damian Schnabel for seven years, and has a grown-up daughter, Emily, with previous husband Robert Glenister.
