A Gala for St George celebrates England’s national day with a selection of much-loved English orchestral works, songs, poems and readings on Saturday, April 30, hosted by actor Kevin Whately.
The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra together with the Royal Choral Society and soprano Laura Wright will perform a selection of classic English pieces such as Elgar’s Nimrod, Walton’s  Crown Imperial, Vaughan Williams – Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis and Handel’s Zadok the Priest. The programme will also feature a host of  favourite English songs including The White Cliffs of Dover; Scarborough Fair, A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square, Rule Britannia!, Jerusalem and Land of Hope and Glory.
