Fancy a romantic break? Then head to the Lake District!
A survey by UK cottage specialist Snaptrip ranked the 10 best places for a loved-up getaway with the stunning Cumbrian national park with its glacial lakes and rugged mountains taking the top spot, beating Cornwall. Edinburgh, Devon and Bath came in at third, fourth and fifth place respectively.
The poll also revealed we’re particularly keen on a romantic setting to get in the mood, with a lakefront or beach setting topping the list of romantic places.
However, men and women have different ideas when it comes to what is the best aphrodisiac while holidaying - over half of men said a lake view would inspire romance, while 48 per cent of women gave a sunset the top spot. A country cabin, starry sky and warm sunny weather featured in the top five.
Matt Fox, CEO at Snaptrip said: “Getting away from it all and spending quality time with your partner is really important. Going away on a romantic break can help create lifelong memories which add to the foundation of any relationship.
“It’s lovely to see British couples embracing the romantic destinations we have here on home soil, as we really are spoilt for choice when it comes to picturesque getaways!”
