MAKING UP

Starting at the end without the tentacles, roll up the core strip into a fairly tight coil, securing it with a few stitches as you go. When you reach the tentacles, continue rolling, using the tail of yarn at the top of each tentacle to secure it to the core and weaving the remaining end into the layers of knitting. Stitch the side seam on the body. Place the body over the core and stitch the cast-on edge to the top of the tentacles all around. Insert some toy filling through the small hole at the top of the body, then insert one end of the hanging cord; pull up the yarn tail to close up the hole and trap the end of the hanging cord, then secure with a few small stitches. Cut circles of felt for the eyes and stitch in place on the body using sewing or embroidery thread.
