MATERIALS
3(3:4:5:6:7) 50g balls Sirdar Snuggly Baby Bamboo DK F071 in shade 131
Pair each 3.25mm (UK10), 4mm (UK 8) and 4.5mm (UK 7) and knitting needles.
Stitch Holders.
3 Buttons.

TENSION
22 sts and 28 rows = 10cm/4in square over st-st using 4mm needles.
It is essential to work to the stated tension to ensure success.

Figures in brackets () refer to larger sizes (see measurements chart). Where one set of figures is given this applies to all sizes. If a zero is given, this means you do not need to work these instructions. Circle the size you wish to make before you start.

PATTERN:

BACK
Using 3.25mm needles cast on 59(65:71:77:85:91)sts.
Starting with row 1, work 7 rows in 1x1 rib.
Next row p6(5:3:5:3:6), p2tog, [p3(4:5:4:4:4), p2tog] 9(9:9:11:13:13)times, p6(4:3:4:2:5). 49(55:61:65:71:77)sts.
Change to 4mm needles and work 10 rows in st-st, starting with a RS row.
Change to 4.5mm needles and proceed as follows:-
11th row p0(1:0:0:1:0), *k1, p1; rep from * to last 1(0:1:1:0:1)sts, k1(0:1:1:0:1).
12th row p1(0:1:1:0:1), *k1, p1; rep from * to last 0(1:0:0:1:0)sts, k0(1:0:0:1:0).
Rep 11th and 12th rows 4 times more.
From 1st to 20th row sets patt.
Working in patt as set, changing needles as required, cont until back measures 15(17:20:24:27:32)cm/6(6½:8:9½:10¾:12½)in, ending with a WS row. ***
Work 16(22:22:24:24:26)rows more in patt.

Shape Neck    
Next row work 18(20:21:23:24:27)sts in patt, turn, leave rem 31(35:40:42:47:50)sts on a stitch holder.
Working on these 18(20:21:23:24:27)sts only proceed as follows:-
Next row patt.
Work 2 rows dec one st at neck edge in every row. 16(18:19:21:22:25)sts.
Work 4 rows without shaping.
Cast off in patt.
With RS facing, working on rem 31(35:40:42:47:50)sts, slip 13(15:19:19:23:23)sts onto a stitch holder, rejoin yarn to rem 18(20:21:23:24:27)sts and patt to end.
Next row patt.
Work 2 rows dec 1 st at neck edge in every row. 16(18:19:21:22:25)sts.
Next Row. Patt to end inc 3(3:4:4:3:4)sts evenly across row. 19(21:23:25:25:29)sts.

Shoulder Edging
Change to 3.25mm needles and work
6 rows in 1x1 rib.
Cast off in rib.

FRONT
Work as given for Back to ***.
Divide for Neck
Next row work 22(25:28:30:33:36)sts in patt, dec one st, turn, leave rem 25(28:31:33:36:39)sts on a stitch holder.
Working on these 23(26:29:31:34:37)sts only proceed as follows:

Work 10(10:19:14:23:20)rows dec one st at neck edge in next and every foll alt row. 18(21:19:24:22:27)sts.
For 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th sizes only

For all 6 sizes
Work 3(5:5:3:3:3)rows without shaping.

Shoulder Edging
Change to 3.25mm needles and proceed as follows:-
Work 2 rows in 1x1 rib.
Next row rib 2(4:5:5:5:7), cast off one st, rib 6(6:7:8:8:8), cast off one st, rib 7(7:7:8:8:10).
Next  row rib 8(8:8:9:9:11), cast on one st, rib 7(7:8:9:9:9), cast on one st, rib 2(4:5:5:5:7). 
Work 2 rows more in 1x1 rib.
Cast off in 1x1 rib.
With RS facing, working on rem 25(28:31:33:36:39)sts, slip one st onto a safety pin, rejoin yarn to rem 24(27:30:32:35:38)sts, dec one st, patt to end. 23(26:29:31:34:37)sts.
Next row patt.
Work 10(10:19:14:23:20)rows dec one st at neck edge in next and every foll alt row. 18(21:19:24:22:27)sts.
For 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th sizes only
Work (5:9:9:5)rows dec one st at neck edge in next and every foll 4th row.(16:18:21:25)sts.
For all 6 sizes
Work 7(9:9:7:7:7) rows more without shaping.
Cast off.

SLEEVES (Both alike)
Using 3.25mm needles cast on 41(41:45:47:51:55)sts.
Work 7 rows in 1x1 rib.
8th row p5(5:4:5:7:6), p2tog, (p4(4:3:3:3:4), p2tog) 5(5:7:7:7:7)times, p4(4:4:5:7:5). 35(35:37:39:43:47)sts.
Change to 4mm needles and working in st-st throughout inc one st at each end of 11th(5th:7th:9th:7th:9th) and every foll 12th(6th:6th:10th:14th:16th)row to 39(45:49:49:53:57)sts.
Cont without shaping until sleeve measures 15(17:20:24:29:33)cm/6(6½:8:9½:11½:13)in, or length required, ending with a WS row.

Shape Sleeve Top
Cast off 2 sts at beg of next 6(2:6:6:12:8)rows. 27(41:37:37:29:41)sts.
Cast off 3 sts at beg of next 6(10:8:8:4:8)rows. 9(11:13:13:17:17)sts.
Cast off rem 9(11:13:13:17:17)sts.

NECKBAND
Join right shoulder seam. With RS facing, using 3.25mm needles pick up and knit 6 sts evenly along shoulder edging, 23(28:31:33:36:39)sts evenly along left side of front neck, one st left on safety pin at front of neck, 26(31:34:36:39:42)sts evenly along right side of front neck, 8 sts evenly along right side of back neck, work across 13(15:19:19:23:23)sts left on a stitch holder at back of neck as follows: k6(7:9:9:11:11), inc in next st, k6(7:9:9:11:11), pick up and knit 5 sts evenly along left side of back neck and 6 sts evenly along shoulder edging. 89(101:111:115:125:131)sts.
Starting with 2nd row of 1x1 rib proceed as follows:
1st row p1, [k1, p1] 28(32:35:36:40:41)times, k0(0:1:1:0:1), insert needle purlways through back of 2nd st then 1st st and slip both sts off needle tog, purl next st then pass 2 slipped sts tog over purl st, k0(0:1:1:0:1), p1, [k1,p1] 14(16:17:18:20:21)times. 87(99:109:113:123:129)sts.
2nd Row. (K1, p1) 14(16:17:18:20:21)times, k0(0:1:1:0:1), insert needle knitways into 2nd st then 1st st and slip both sts off needle tog, knit next st then pass 2 slipped sts tog over knit st, k0(0:1:1:0:1), (p1,k1) 28(32:35:36:40:41)times. 85(97:107:111:121:127)sts.
3rd Row. Rib to last 4 sts dec 2 sts at centre V as before, cast off one st, rib to end.
4th Row. Rib 3, cast on one st, rib to end dec 2 sts at centre V as before.
Work 2 rows more dec 2 sts at centre V as before in each row. 77(89:99:103:113:119)sts.   
Cast off in rib.

MAKE UP
Place front shoulder edging over back shoulder edging and sew in position at side edge. Fold sleeves in half lengthways, then placing folds to shoulder seams, sew sleeves in position for approximately 10(12:13:14:15:16)cm/4(4¾:5¼:5½:6:6¼)in, from top of shoulders. Join side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons. Pin out garment to the measurement given. Cover with damp cloths and leave until dry. See ball band for washing and further care instructions.
