The charity that has provided a listening ear for those in need for nearly 60 years has revealed a new way to get in touch…

Most people know the Samaritians as a telephone helpline but many have no idea it’s also possible to write them and receive emotional correspondence by lette,r that can take as long as the person needs. And now they’ve made it even easier as they’ve just set up a freepost address. Meaning there is no need for a stamp to be bought.

“We hope this will encourage anyone in need to feel they can write without having to pay the ever-increasing costs of postage,” says Peter a Samaritans volunteer.
“Every letter received is replied to by a specially trained Samaritan volunteer, who is dedicated to giving up some of their time to try to reach out to another person in need.”
