I’m a carer and very lonely. How can I get in touch with people like me?
By Yours Reader Editor
Yours has an incredibly popular Carers in Touch scheme.
To join, write or email us giving your name, full postal address, telephone number, email address if you have one and brief details of the person for whom you care. Include details about your family and interests if you wish. If writing, please enclose an A4 size self-addressed envelope.
Names and addresses will not be published in the magazine or passed on to anyone apart from other carers
Every carer who writes to us will have his or her name added to a list which will be updated regularly and sent out to all carers
It is up to the individual carers to get in touch with people they choose.

I think that the internet dating are definitely helping a lot of people to find the right partner for them. French doors

Have you ever thought of joining a penfriend club and writing to a few penpals? When joining, emphasise that you're a carer and would like to write to people in a similar position; you should receive quite a few replies.

I've joined village groups - but I'm lucky in that I can get out for a few hours at a time. I'm a member of WI, and the church choir - things I didn't have time for when I worked full time. I've also found that my husband can go to the local hospice for respite care - so I can get away for a few days. It's great to be in touch with other carers - but don't close yourself off from the opportunity to meet with others in your community. It broadens your out-look.
