I have heard of something called feng shui and I'd like to use it to get a better night's sleep by positioning the bed and other furniture the right way. Can you give me some ideas please?

Modern feng shui practice is far more than its traditional definition of "the ancient Chinese art of placement". It identifies the natural flow of energy in any situation and works to release and enhance that flow to the benefit of those living or working in the immediate environment. This energy is known as chi and is invisible but tangible. Chi is used in many practices as Tai Chi, acupuncture and acupressure, but its real advantages are seen when used environmentally. Feng shui has equivalent practices in many cultures. It is used worldwide today by families, individuals and big corporations alike.A few tips on better sleep:When lying in bed, try to avoid having the entrance door directly facing the soles of your feet. The end of the bed should not be in line with the doorSleep under level ceilings and avoid sleeping under sloping ceilings. Avoid sleeping in line with sharp vertical angles such as dormer windowsEnsure the bedhead is solid, not slatted and against a solid wall. Do not sleep with the head under a windowIt is better to sleep in tune with the Earth's magnetic field, trying to align yourself north-south whenever possible.Avoid clutter. Never awaken to yesterday's clothesDo not have mirrors in the bedroom, certainly not a mirror that reflects your sleeping imageKeep space around, above and below the bed so the chi energy can circulate everywhere. Do not store things under bed.For more information visit www.fengshuisociety.org.uk
