Hi I believe this is correct. I am at the other end of the story - about to have a stairlift installed at a very low cost, provided by Social Services and maintained by them. Its a 'second hand' one, but guaranteed safe and serviced for 4 years free of charge - on the understanding that it goes back to them when no longer needed.

You can buy personal alarms in many places, including the local police station.I bought mine off the internet and carry it with me every time I step outside my door.They are not expensive.You will get plenty of answers on this item. It is a shame that we have to go to these extremes now adays, but as I am continually told,"Thats life today"
