My husband passed away 5 months ago, and even though I notified firms of this, I am finding that I am still receiving emails and post from BT. I have asked over and over for them to stop as it distresses me. Any ideas please? Thing is we didn't belong to BT anyway, we left them a long time ago.

Bt were most unhelpful, they said they couldn't cancel their junk mail to my deceased husband, by my giving his name and address 'only', they said they could only do a cancellation by having our phone number, I find this very bizarre, that they do not have an accessable data base of name and addresses, but can only pick up details by a phone number, we were not with BT. - Alys

With refererence to the BT letters, you can write to them informing them of your husbands passing. State that you have already informed them but they have still sent mail addressed to him, and say you are sending a complaint to Ofcom. Write to them explaining the problem with a timescale (dates etc) and copy the letters each way i.e copy of letter sent to BT sent along with the Ofcom letter and vice versa. This should deal with the problem. I had this issue when my late father passed away and BT and Manweb insisted on writing to him. With Manweb I just said i would take them to court for harassment especially as they had been sent a copy of his death certificate, and had written to say their records had been ammended accordingly...... hope this is of some help.
