Can please advise me if there is anything I can buy to check the weight of my suitcases? I had quite a shock recently when we were at the airport, as we were charged a lot of money for having overweight luggage.

I had the same problem the first time I traveled by plane, mainly because the airline I took had a confusing website that didn't clearly state the luggage weight limit, instead it was somewhere in the fine print. I chose to leave some of my luggage in the terminal and I got into an argument with the airline employee who told me I had to pay 200 euros for the extra weight. In the meanwhile I found out about luggage shipping, a fast and safe way to have your luggage delivered to you when travelling without having to worrry about all the weight limits that airlines impose.
