Can anyone give me advice on going travelling with a mobility scooter. How easy is it to go by train, plane and coach?

Hello This is easy. We take my wife's mobility scooter abroad every year. When you book you holiday with a travel agent or online just tell them that you are taking a scooter with you and they will make the arrangment for you. there is no charge for taking it on the plane. They don't like taking the very big scooters but as long as it fits in the car there is no problem. They may ask for the size of the scooter (just give them a rough size and tell the battery is DRY CELL as the dont like taking acid batteries on the plane, they are sealed anyway) They take the scooter off you at airport check-in and put you in a wheel chair and they push you everywhere and you are always first to board the plane. Its great you feel like a VIP. Then when you arrive abroad they collect you from the plane in a wheelchair and take you to the terminal where you are reunited with your scooter. The transfer from the airport: you take the scooter on the bus (the only place where we do get a problem is in Benidorm where we have to get a taxi transfer to the hotel as they wont take the scooter on the bus, but if you book the transfer with the travel agent yuo can usually get them to pay for the taxi one way and you pay for the return) We always take our scooter abroad with us as it makes it so much easier to get around the hotel and resort. We have taken the scooter with us to Barbados, Kenya, the Canaries, Benidorm, Mexico and Dominican Republic ( We have just booked for DP for September) in the last couple of year with no problems. Have a good holiday!!!!! Ps When you receive your scooter back at the airport (home and abroad) check there is no damage (scratches) to it and if there is, report it at the airport and fill in the claim form and claim off the airport and not your travel insurance. They sometime forget to tie in down in the hold ( only once to us)
