Mini Bunting

Quick and easy to make, this bunting is perfect for trimming a shelf in the playroom. It’s also the right scale for children to use in games with their bears and dolls.

Materials:
Card for template
For each pennant a piece of felt measuring at least 5x5cm (2x2in)
1.5cm (5/8in) bias binding the required length of the bunting, allowing for ties at each end
Sewing thread to match
Bias binding

Tools:
Paper scissors
Fabric marker
Ruler
Rotary cutter or
fabric scissors
Cutting mat (if using
rotary cutter)
Iron
Pins
Sewing machine

Instructions:
1 On the card, draw a triangle 5cm (2in) wide across the top and 4.5cm (1¾in) from top to tip. Cut this out to make a template. Use the template and fabric marker to draw as many pennants as you need on to felt. Cut them out using the rotary cutter and mat or a pair of scissors.

2 Iron the binding in half. Slip the top edge of each pennant into the binding, spacing the pennants evenly. Pin each one in place.

3 Set the sewing machine to a narrow zigzag. Starting at one end of the binding, machine along it close to the open edge, sewing over each pennant and taking out the pins as you go. Press the bunting.
