Years ago, we used to be able to purchase Be-Ro cookery books, which were full of useful recipes. I wonder if it’s still possible to get them?
By Energy Switching Expert
Be-Ro began life as grocery firm Bells Royal in the 1880s, later shortened to Be-Ro. During the Twenties, Be-Ro launched a campaign to make its self-raising flour popular by selling pastries and scones at bargain prices at events. They went down so well with customers that the company produced a free cookbook of family recipes. The Be-Ro cookbook is still produced today, after 40 editions. To order the latest Be-Ro cookbook, send a cheque for £1.50 – made payable to Be-Ro Recipe Book – to The Be-Ro Kitchen, PO Box 100, Blackburn, Lancs, BB0 1GR. Allow 28 days for delivery. You may also find them in your local Co-Op or Morrisons stores

Hi Sangria, I know your comment was a while ago, but I thought I'd let you know we have launched a new Dairy Book of Home Cookery for 2012 - it's available to buy from your milkman as always, but you can also buy online at www.dairydiary.co.uk. It's a reworked version of the 1968 classic, so it's got all the recipes you'd expect but also new cooking methods. I hope you like it! Best Wishes, Gemma xx

Can't the cookbooks be also found at second-hand shops? I've met a great antiquarian who sells books from this branch who also gave me the address of a good diet food delivery. I can't remember if the also had Be-Ro cookery books, though, because I haven't heard about them until now.

There are so many cook books out there, I can never decide which one I want. I adore classic recipes but I also want to cook modern dishes. One thing I do every two or three years is gather the recipes I tried and likes, get in touch with an online printing company and have them print me my own cook books. I usually make enough exemplars for every friend I have. It's a great gift and my friends always ask me when my next recipe collection will come out.
