Shed lbs and the years with our simple seven-day eating plan

Maintaining a healthy weight as we get older can be more of a struggle because the rate at which we burn calories slows down due to hormonal changes. Combine this with less exercise and we can feel we’re constantly struggling to shift those pesky pounds. And diet choices could also be adding on the years without you even realising. To help you stay healthy and look the best you can, we’ve put together a diet plan that will help you lose weight, get fit and stay looking younger for longer.
“This diet plan will ensure you get all of the nutrients required for healthy skin, nails, teeth and hair – not to mention being good for your waistline,” says Yoursdietclub.co.uk nutritionist Catherine Matthews. “Whether you need to lose weight or just want to feel better about yourself, this plan includes foods that will not only help your weight-loss and support your overall health, but have been specially handpicked to help fight the signs of ageing, too.”

Eat more…
    •    Dark green vegetables to help hair grow thick and shiny.
    •    Tomatoes, which are full of antioxidants to help combat the signs of ageing.
    •    Omega-3 fats found in oily fish, which are great for dry skin.
    •    Protein-rich foods such as lean meat, eggs, beans and lentils to fill you up and fight hunger.
    •    Wholegrain foods such as brown rice and wholegrain bread, which are more filling than processed versions.
    •    Yellow or orange vegetables such as carrots, peppers and squashes that contain skin and hair friendly beta carotene.
    •    Fruit that’s high in soluble fibre to help fill you up.
    •    And lastly drink plenty water – the best tool for fresher, youthful skin.

Eat less…
    •    Foods and drinks loaded with sugar, which will worsen cellulite, cause tooth erosion plus are packed with calories.
    •    Saturated fat found in chips, buns and biscuits – it’s bad for your heart and can leave skin looking dull and greasy.
    •    Salt, which dehydrates your skin and can lead to bloating and water retention. Margarine, which is typically high in trans fats and spells bad news for your heart and skin.
    •    Processed meats containing high levels of salt preservatives that leave your skin dull and lifeless.
White bread causes bloating and has little nutritional value.
    •    Caffeine, which dehydrates the skin.
    •    Alcohol, which is also dehydrating and is loaded with calories.
