There are a few DVDs available especially for those over 50, and for different levels of fitness too.

The first two we came across was Angela Rippon's - Fabulously Fit At Fifty And Beyond and the other is More Than Stretch: Senior Fitness, both available from www.play.com

The Help the Aged online shop also has an exercise DVD and video specially developed by their own Healthy Ageing team.

The Help the Aged Step to the Future exercise DVD features strength and stability exercises for those that are fairly able bodied to help strengthen muscles, increase energy, and improve flexibility and balance.
Also available is the Be Strong, Be Steady exercise video, a gentler programme that includes both chair-based and standing exercises. Again it is put together by the Healthy Ageing team and will help you strengthen, improve balance and flexibility, and is more suited to those that are less able.
Both programmes are priced at £12, plus £4.50 P&P. www.helptheaged.org.uk/shopping.

*Do consult your GP before starting an exercise programme, especially if you suffer from heart disease, high blood pressure, a joint or back problem, if you are overweight or have a serious illness.
