Frequently asked questions
How much space do I get and what is the minimum perceived prize value?We will not charge you to run a competition, but we do insist on a minimum prize value for the benefit of our readers. Space is approximate and MPVs are as follows:
How long does each competition/giveaway stay on the website?All competitions and giveaways will feature on the website with a link through to your site if required. They will usually remain on our site for just over 3 weeks - really depending on the closing date in the magazine. Web exclusive competitions will stay up for up to 5 weeks.
Can I have copy approval?Yes, a PDF is emailed to you prior to publication for copy approval (but Yours Magazine has the final say on content and aesthetics).
Where do the entries go?All entries come to Yours magazine on a multi-entry coupon, to a premium rate phone line or via our website. Only in exceptional circumstances will they come direct to you ie judging photograph competition.
Can I run a reader offer?We will run a reader offer (% discount, BOGOF, money off etc) in conjunction with a competition, but if you would rather not run a competition, please contact Advertising.
And in terms of prizes? Competitions offering a discount/offer only as a prize will NOT be accepted, neither will those that require the winner to subscribe to continue to use the prize. Holidays, short breaks, spa days and days out should be for a minimum of two people. If the prize is a holiday abroad, it must include return flights and transfers. Before offering a competition, please consider that we have a nationwide audience, and whilst we will not rule them out, ticket only prizes to a show is not ideal, especially if it costs the winners 3 x as much to get there!
Can we capture the data?Yours magazine don't capture the competitions postal/phone data, so you will be charged 'at cost' for processing. You will however, only receive 3rd party opt-in data for your competition and it is only valid for one mailing.
Do you dispatch the prizes?Unless prior arrangements have been made, Yours magazine will advise the winners and pass their details to you for fulfillment within 10 working days.
Can we have our competition or giveaway in a certain section of the magazine?Competitions and giveaways will go on the dedicated pages. It will be at the Editor's discretion to run them elsewhere ie Celebrity Makeover in the Fashion/Beauty pages. If you would like your competition or giveaway to feature in a specific section, please contact Advertising
Can I specify an issue?If booked well enough in advance, you can give us your preferences. Whilst we will try to accommodate, occasionally last minute page/layout changes will need to be made, so we can not guarantee a specific issue.
How do I progress from here?Please email your prize offer (including value), a selection of hi-res pics/logo (jpeg, 300dpi) and copy to Editorial Promotions
